Acquisition Standards for Collections

Museums serve as venues for showcasing the achievements of historical and modern civilisations. In accordance with the nature, mission, and exhibition characteristics of this institution, the following acquisition standards are established:

I. Cultural relics, specimens, or physical materials to be acquired must undergo definitive authentication. Items that cannot be definitively authenticated or are subject to authentication disputes shall not be acquired.

II. Acquired artefacts, specimens, or physical materials must, in principle, align with the museum's nature, mission, and exhibition characteristics.

III. Acquired artefacts, specimens, or physical materials must possess significant historical, artistic, or scientific value, or demonstrate outstanding value in one of these aspects.

IV. Acquired artefacts, specimens, or physical materials must be in relatively good condition. Items with severe damage, such as fragmentation, corrosion, or mould, will not be accepted in principle.

V. For cultural relics, specimens, or artefacts with numerous duplicates, only the specimen in the best condition shall be selected for inclusion in the collection; generally, excessive numbers shall not be retained.

VI. Cultural relics, artworks, and similar items possessing low historical, artistic, or scientific value but high economic value shall, in principle, be designated as collection items.

VII. Cultural relics that do not align with the nature, mission, and exhibition characteristics of this museum but possess high historical, artistic, or scientific value may be designated as collection items for cultural relics preservation.
