On August 17, 2025, Zhang Jingxuan, Founder and Director of the Dalian World Music Culture Museum in China, was invited to attend the 5th International Accordion Culture Festival held in Tacheng, Xinjiang. At the "Belt and Road" International Accordion Cultural Exchange event, he conducted a symposium and academic exchange activity themed "Museums: Spaces for Transnational Cultural and Artistic Exchange."
在
During the symposium, speakers included Friedrich Kevin, Ambassador of the International Accordion Federation and President of the International Accordion Museum Alliance; Yin Chunmao, former Director of the Museum and Revolutionary Relics Division of the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region Cultural Relics Bureau and Supervisor of the Autonomous Region Museum Association; and Zhang Jingxuan, Vice Chairperson of the Music and Musical Instruments Professional Committee of the China Museum Association and Zhang Jingxuan, Founder and Director of the World Music Culture Museum; Cui Yankun, Director of the Tacheng Prefecture Museum; and Ma Yulan, Director of the Tacheng City Museum, among other industry professionals, delivered speeches on the theme. They engaged in extensive and in-depth discussions on international exchange and cooperation among art museums, market-oriented development measures, and the application of digital AI, creating a highly enthusiastic atmosphere.
Director Zhang Jingxuan delivered a keynote address titled "Advocating New Museum Concepts: Making Museum Visits a Contemporary Lifestyle," exploring the forum theme through five dimensions: exhibition design, cultural exchange and cooperation, commercial co-creation in museums, public welfare and charitable activities, and future development prospects. His speech received unanimous recognition from attendees.
Director Zhang Jingxuan stated that the World Music Culture Museum will establish cooperative bridges with the Xinjiang Tacheng Museum and the Accordion Museum. In his view, museums should not merely be static repositories of collections but vital conduits connecting civilizations—serving as "musical bridges between nations, cultural bonds between cities, and a novel means of communication between people." Moving forward, the museum will unite cultural heritage professionals and musical artists from all sectors, centring on cultural revival and using sound as its medium. On one hand, it will collaborate with domestic sister museums to delve deeply into China's rich musical heritage. On the other hand, it will showcase the beauty of multidimensional cultural exchange between East and West through cultural symbols like the accordion, ultimately achieving the goal of "letting the world hear Dalian's voice and ensuring China's voice resonates through the ages!"
Wang Congyu, Member of the Artistic Committee of the International Accordion Federation and Head of the Western Music Department at Shanghai Normal University's Conservatory of Music, expressed gratitude to Director Zhang Jingxuan. She remarked: "Director Zhang not only introduced us to the comprehensive music culture museum he founded, but I believe he also possesses a 'museum in his heart.' From Zhang Jingxuan's profound passion for museum work and musical cultural exchange, one can sense the immense weight of this 'museum of the heart.' Together with the physical museum, it embodies Zhang Jingxuan's unwavering dedication to these endeavors."
Kevin Friedrich, President of the World Accordion Museum Alliance and Executive Ambassador of the International Accordion Federation, noted that operational challenges faced by museums are universal. However, he praised the future development vision showcased by this museum (World Music Culture Museum) and its mission to "make museums more appealing to young people and encourage their participation," calling it 'excellent' and "highly inspiring." I would be delighted to visit China and tour Director Zhang Jingxuan's museum, particularly to see with my own eyes Beethoven's lifelong cherished instrument—the nine-foot Broadwood grand piano.
Director Zhang Jingxuan's participation in the 5th International Accordion Culture Festival not only established a new platform for international exchange among art museums but also introduced fresh perspectives for industry development through the concept of "making museums vehicles for cross-cultural communication." Moving forward, as collaborations between the World Music Culture Museum and relevant museums in Tacheng progress, and international guests visit China for exchanges, this will further propel Chinese music culture onto the global stage. It will accelerate the realization of the cultural dissemination vision of "using music as a bridge and museums as a link," fostering deeper mutual learning and exchange in music culture.
"Revitalizing China through culture, conveying the Chinese dream through sound!" As a cultural practitioner and leader of cultural enterprises, Director Zhang Jingxuan will strive to build a multidimensional cultural museum industry chain that integrates cultural undertakings, cultural industries, cultural technology, cultural tourism, and digital culture, pioneering new trends in cultural museum development. Advocating innovative museum concepts, he aims to transform the World Music Culture Museum into a cultural hall that serves as a musical bridge between nations, a cultural bond between cities, and a new lifestyle for human communication. In the future, the World Music Culture Museum will strive to become a cultural landmark of Dalian City, a cultural calling card of Liaoning Province, and a cultural banner representing Liaoning to the nation!
"Falling in love with a city begins at the museum..."
