The theme for International Museum Day 2025 is "The Future of Museums in a Rapidly Changing Society." For seven years, the World Music Culture Museum has remained true to its founding mission of "serving the nation through culture." Through sound technology innovation and international collaboration, it has pioneered new frontiers for the future of museums. Through relentless dedication, it has been designated a National Grade II Museum—the only music-themed museum in China to achieve this distinction.

To celebrate International Museum Day and the museum's seventh anniversary, we present a series of musical performances and cultural exhibitions. Experience the charm of musical culture and the future of sound technology by the Dalian seaside this early summer.

The "History of Chinese National Music" exhibition spans 7,000 years of Chinese civilisation through four categories showcasing iconic musical instruments and their stories. Utilising a rotating three-dimensional space that ascends from bottom to top, it creates a "timeline" traversal experience, allowing visitors to deeply appreciate the enduring influence of Chinese national music within the global musical history.

The exhibition "The Artistic Life of Maestro Karajan" presents a comprehensive portrait of Karajan's musical journey through rare vintage vinyl records, archival footage, and his iconic baton. Witness his radiant moments on stage while discovering his unwavering dedication behind the scenes. Whether seasoned music enthusiasts or newcomers to the field, all visitors will be drawn to the profound allure of music and Karajan's enduring legacy.

Aligning with China-Russia cultural exchange policies, our museum presents the Russian traditional folk instrument, the bayan, in an innovative "Balcony Concert" format. Performers will alternate between Chinese and Russian music, allowing citizens to experience the warm melodies of Sino-Russian friendship on International Museum Day. For many, this will be their first opportunity to hear live bayan performances.

At 7 PM, we present a "Classical Candlelight Concert," featuring Mozart's renowned compositions performed on our museum's 200-year-old Pleyel nine-foot grand piano. Within the enchanting candlelit piano exhibition area on the first floor, the "authentic sound reproduction" will move every audience member.
